  Platonic Friendships....

  there are some conflicting views on this subject; when i was a teenage jw i was friends with someone of the opposite sex and we were the best of mates...nothing sexual, no attraction in that department at all but it was frowned upon by those in the congregation (as you can probably imagine).. my ex wife never believed a man and woman could be just platonic...hence no longer with her...but..now being somewhat older (and a teeny bit wiser .

  what do you think though, do you think a man and woman can be just friends and more importantly has this view been changed since leaving the jw's?.

  Yes, I'm a guy and my best friends by far are females, just friends but good ones. BUT, not with JW's. Someone I thought was a very good friend the last two years all the sudden dropped our friendship horribly, she's JW. Her husband says their females aren't allowed to have male friends, only acquaintances. Looking back every JW I've known was nothing but phony. Now I keep a bat next to my door for the next one who drops by. Guess there's some anger issues now huh. But yeah I LOVE platonic friendships, just never again with a JW.

  Listen to Mom or listen to love?

  my boyfriend and i have been together for almost 2 years now and living together for one.

  our relationship couldn't be better, we love each other more than anything, and are supportive of each other in every way.

  both of us are convinced that we are a perfect fit for each other, and we are basically on the same page about everything, until about 2 weeks ago that is.

  Well unfortunately most of us only learn from painful experience that involvement, friendship, etc with any JW is a mistake. My very best friend of two years is one dumped my friendship horribly. Her husband tells me their females aren't allowed to have male friends, only acquaintances. I attended their church several times and am sure that stuff she attends 4 nights a week promotes phony acting. After getting through my pain, I now keep a big bat next to my door for the next JW who wants to come a-knockin. My advice, toss the guy and find a Catholic.
